The office of governor is the most dynamic office in government. As a state’s chief executive, a governor must manage the execution of state laws and policy, steer policy in cooperation with their respective legislatures and serve as the lead point of contact with both Washington and local governments. There is no other role in government with a more direct impact on the people of any given state.
Governors serve at the vanguard of public policy and are always in position to impact the direction of the country, through leadership in their home state, or by continuing their careers in the U.S. Congress, as cabinet members or even the White House. Since 1900, eight U.S. presidents previously served as governors.
Governors Journal is edited by Dean C. Pagani, a 30 year veteran of journalism, politics, government and public relations. For eight years he served as Director of Communications and Chief of Staff to Governor John Rowland of Connecticut and served as a senior advisor to the gubernatorial campaign of Tom Foley, the former U.S. Ambassador to Ireland.
Dean is based in Washington D.C. He is the principal of Pagani Public Affairs, specializing in public relations strategy, writing, crisis communications and media training.
