An issues caucus that began on Capitol Hill has a growing list of governors climbing on board.
The Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus now has twenty three members from both parties and met Saturday night in Washington, D.C. in conjunction with the National Governors Association winter meeting.
The group is led by governors Brian Schweitzer(D) of Montana, Susana Martinez(R) of New Mexico and Mike Beebe(D) of Arkansas.
The group’s main mission is to promote greater access to open spaces for fishing and hunting and to expand conservation efforts.
The Sportsmen’s caucus president says the group is completely bi-partisan. Saturday night members heard from Schweitzer, Beebe, Martinez, Governor Dannel Malloy(D) of Connecticut and Governor Earl Ray Tomblin(D) of West Virginia. Schweitzer and Beebe sharing with the group stories of their hunting prowess – or lack of it.
Martinez isn’t a bad shot herself.
