No one pretends to know what North Carolina state Representative Bill Faison(D) is up to, but he is clearly a thorn in the side to the re-election campaign of Governor Bev Perdue(D).
Faison says he will not primary Perdue for the nomination this year, but he is also preparing for a possible run and publicly voicing his prediction that Perdue will decide against seeking re-election as her poll numbers hang in the danger zone.
The North Carolina race is expected to be one of the most watched in the country as Perdue faces a likely challenge from former Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory(R) who narrowly lost to her in 2008. The governor’s race is also expected to have an impact on the presidential race. President Obama won the state by a small margin. With both parties activated by the gubernatorial contest it could play a decisive role in voter turnout.
